Broadband
over power lines (BPL) delivers broadband Internet connections to your home
or office just like cable and DSL. The difference is that BPL brings the Internet
connection over a community’s utility power lines. Any electric outlet
can become a connection to the Internet. By plugging a small modem into any
outlet and your computer into the modem you have a high speed Internet connection
without any other installation needed.
BPL service can now be offered community-wide, with Internet access to virtually every power outlet. New advances in the technology are prompting dozens of utilities around the country to explore the possibilities of BPL.
