What is Broadband over Power Lines?

Broadband over power lines (BPL) delivers broadband Internet connections to your home or office just like cable and DSL. The difference is that BPL brings the Internet connection over a community’s utility power lines. Any electric outlet can become a connection to the Internet. By plugging a small modem into any outlet and your computer into the modem you have a high speed Internet connection without any other installation needed.

BPL service can now be offered community-wide, with Internet access to virtually every power outlet. New advances in the technology are prompting dozens of utilities around the country to explore the possibilities of BPL.
